Dalada Maligawa (Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy)
King Wimaladharmasuriya I has brought the Sacred Tooth Relic to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy from the Delgamuwa Temple. Therefore, even today, after the end of the Randoli Perahera, one night is kept in this temple.
After King Wimaladharmasuriya, King Senarath and after him his son Rajasinghe II and his son Wimaladharmasuriya II contributed to the construction of the Temple of the Tooth. Due to the Portuguese invasions that took place during that reign. The present Temple of the Tooth was built by the last king of Sinhala, Sri Weeraparakrama Narendrasinghe.
Services at the Temple of the Tooth from 5.30 am to 7 pm
Noon service from 9.15 am to 10.45 am
The Gilanpsa service will be held from 6.30 to 8.30.
All the services are performed in the same manner as Ananda Thera, the chief attendant during the Buddha's tenure.
Lunch is served with 32 curries and four confectionery dishes. It is said that even though the Dutch set fire to this palace again, King Keerthi Sri Rajasinghe renovated it and opened it.
